You once surrounded me — a heavy woolen shawl
your weight bore down upon me as I sank
deeper, deeper into your willing arms, embraced
wholly consumed by your chilled companionship
I lingered there — all heady and purple-bruised
accepting your veiled, nurturing spirit — trusting
I was unable to care for myself, so you did it all
